Every week I offer a curated selection of articles and posts of interest to Christians loving God with all their minds in a hostile society. I hope to provide culture warriors with information that helps you stand firm in the faith despite the culture wars raging around us.

 Why Do We Need Apologetics?

Reformation21 has launched a series of articles on why all Christians need to understand and to do apologetics.

The series will answer these questions and more:

  • What does it mean to do apologetics?
  • Do all Christians need to be apologists for the faith?
  • Don’t you need to be an expert or have special training to be an apologist?

God calls all of his people to practice the discipline of apologetics. But hurdles threaten to keep us from fulfilling our calling. We might feel that apologetics is best left to the experts. But Peter is clear that every Christian must be “prepared to make a defense” of the faith (1 Peter 3:15). We might wonder if apologetics is appropriate. Some Christians think confrontation and contradiction are unloving. Many of us fear offending others. But from God’s perspective it is truly unloving to allow people to remain confused about the most important truths. More seriously, we might lack confidence in the gospel. You can’t defend what you don’t believe. Thankfully, apologetics doesn’t just benefit outsiders; it also equips God’s people to know the answers others need.

The Legend of the Social Justice Jesus

One of my favorite apologists, Greg Koukl, has an important article up at Stand to Reason.

In it, Greg thoroughly debunks the idea that Jesus Christ came to bring social justice to the world.

While this is a popular theme in these days, where critical race theory infiltrates our schools, churches, and businesses, Greg uses a thorough review of the Bible to show why it is a false gospel. And, as a false gospel, we must reject it.

That is the story, in sum. It’s a noble tale, to be sure. But it’s a falsehood, a fiction, an urban legend. Though the story is parroted like a mantra by multitudes—even echoed reflexively by otherwise sound spiritual leaders who ought to know better—no such Jesus ever existed. Rather, taken as a whole, this version of Jesus is just another example of another Jesus bringing another gospel like the ones the apostle Paul anathematized to the Galatians.

What Does the Bible Say About Marriage?

This is an excellent essay explaining what the Bible teaches about marriage. Below is a summary. But don’t stop there. You need to read the entire article and you will benefit from it.

Marriage is an ordinance given to human beings in creation. It is therefore not negotiable, but is entrusted to us both as a “given” and as a gracious gift. It is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman who promise before witnesses to be faithful until one of them dies. It is God’s only context for sexual intimacy. The man and the woman must be from different families, to protect against incest. Neither of them are to be already married, to protect against the distortion of marriage when one man marries more than one woman (or one woman more than one man). They must be above the age of consent and therefore able voluntarily to enter into marriage.

Federal Judge in Texas Rules in Favor of Religious Businesses Over LGBTQ Discrimination Claims

A victory, though maybe short-lived, for freedom of religion.

A federal judge ruled Sunday that for-profit businesses that have sincerely held religious beliefs do not have to abide by LGBTQ discrimination claims, a blow to the previous ruling in the Supreme Court that protected sexual orientation and gender identity from discrimination, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The Stunning Belief of Nearly 70% of Born-Again Christians

This says much about how well we teach the Christian faith in our churches. It is not enough for someone to answer an altar call or confess their faith in front of the congregation. They must learn the faith based on the Creeds.

A new survey has found that nearly 70% of those polled do not believe that Jesus is the only way to God. That would not be a particularly startling finding during the age of the “rise of the nones” if it were not for the fact that the group being surveyed were born-again Christians between the ages of 18 and 39. (View Highlight)

That’s right. According to Probe Ministry’s latest survey of religious views and practices, nearly 70% of all born-again Christians do not believe that Jesus is the only way to God. The question asked for their evaluation was “Muhammad, Buddha and Jesus all taught valid ways to God.” When asked if they disagreed with this, most born-again Christians said, “No, they did not.”

Abortionist Can’t Answer Whether Abortion Kills a Living Human Being

This belongs to the “You can’t make this stuff up category.” Read the article and you will understand why I say this.

This woman, a medical doctor, is obviously not stupid. Yet, she couldn’t or refused to answer some basic questions regarding the unborn child an abortion.

If she were testifying in a court of law, she would be unresponsive and potentially held in contempt for refusing to answer. Of course, this was a hearing called by pro-abortion Democrats who had her back.

A Texas abortionist who testified Thursday before U.S. Congress repeatedly refused to answer questions about whether an abortion kills a living human being.

Thinking Biblically About Freedom

True freedom comes not from government or the populace. It comes from God.

But, when freedom is misunderstood and abused, the results are devastating.

In America, we see a culture that is awash in the abuse of freedom. In the name of “freedom of choice,” the lives of unborn babies are extinguished in their mothers’ wombs, often due to pressure from fathers and family members. In the name of “freedom of expression,” pornography clogs the internet and sweeps up millions of Americans into the slavery of addiction. In the name of “freely choosing one’s identity,” children are indoctrinated, speech is restricted, and people are canceled. The list goes on and on.

Second-Class Citizens in Biden’s America

Hillary Clinton infamously called people like me “deplorable.” Given it was Hillary who gave me this moniker, I am proud to wear it.

But, under the Biden administration, we deplorables are less than deplorable.

We are witnessing the societal standing of a large segment of the American people being increasingly diminished by the policies of the Biden administration and numerous current events. Consequently, the collective standing of today’s so-called deplorables is being increasingly relegated by our political system to expendables.

At Long Last, the Right Has Joined the Culture War

Conservatives, trying to be overly civil, have ignored the ongoing culture war. Well, recent events have proved them wrong. And, finally, they are waking up.

We’re spiking the football because it’s long past time for the political establishment to pay attention. Culture is a kitchen table issue, just as much as health care bills and taxes, despite years of smug assurances otherwise from consultants and pundits. We were right and they were wrong. They are not good at this, and their incompetence is hurting the cause of conservatism and, more importantly, the country.

Democrats: If You Disagree with Us, You’re an Insurrectionist

By the time I graduated from high school in 1967, earned my B.A. in 1971, and received my first master’s degree in 1972, I knew that a central principle of democracy was the freedom of disagreement.

If you took a position different from the governing administration, you could express your disagreement, engage in dialogue about it, and have your position heard. That is no longer the case.

For Democrats, Groundhog Day came nearly a month early this year. For them, like the character in the classic Bill Murray comedy, every day is Jan. 6. For them, every challenge to leftist orthodoxy, whether in the form of Biden administration policy or local school boards attempting to impose critical race theory, unreasonable COVID precautions, or transgender policies, is another day of insurrection.
