We are engaged in a culture war. Each week, I recommend readings from around the Internet for Christian culture warriors living amid an increasingly hostile culture.
My mission is to provide help and encouragement to live out our faith amidst the moral decline of our culture. Challenges to religious freedom, free speech, biblical morality, innocent and defenseless human life continue unabated.
But do not despair. Standing firmly on the Word of God, we can resist evil and shine as lights, offering hope to a darkened world.
Beijing’s Olympics Are Downright Dangerous: Here is Why

It’s China’s second opportunity to export its ideology since the 2008 Summer Olympics. It’s happening despite China’s harsh repression of its ethnic minorities, including the Uyghurs in Xinjiang, which has been condemned by many countries as genocide. Nevertheless, all but 14 countries (plus North Korea) appear to be responsive to the IOC’s “Sports without political interference” initiative in sending delegations and athletes to Beijing. Little do they know, the Chinese government uses its hosting of the Olympics as a propaganda tool precisely to silence this criticism of its human rights record.

Trans activists claim that treating minors with gender issues by administration of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sexual reassignment surgery is a so-called medical necessity. The APA (currently about 88,000 MDs and residents) concludes otherwise in its current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5): Up to 88% of girls and 98% of boys presenting with gender confusion eventually accept their biological sex after naturally passing through puberty.
The only conclusion is that most minors treated with puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and sex-reassignment surgery do not need treatment at all.
The War Against Humanity
If we pay attention to today’s trends, it is impossible to miss the decline of our culture. Abortion, same-sex marriage, assisted suicide, euthanasia, calls to normalize pedophilia, and transgender madness tell us that humanity is under attack.
Virgil famously remarked, well over 2,000 years ago: “The descent to hell is easy.”
The aura of truth in that phrase persists to this day, as the latest generations of humanity continue to travel down that path. It is hard to believe that after millennia of human endeavor, the direction of progress for humanity remains downward.
Biden: Parents’ Rights in Schools Are ‘Hateful’
You must wonder what President Joe Biden was thinking when he said this. Ho does any clear-thinking person believe the parents have no rights in the education of their children?
President Joe Biden has moved one step closer to fulfilling his pledge to unite the country–by attacking parents. The president, whose primary qualification for office is that he isn’t Donald Trump, played to type on Tuesday by sending a mean tweet regarding something irrelevant to his job. Taking a play out of the Terry McAuliffe primer for how to lose a governor’s race, Biden called a Florida bill “hateful” for protecting parents’ rights and requiring age-appropriate classroom discussions. Perhaps it’s not the way he imagined, but the president has already convinced 58 percent of Americans that he’s doing a bad job, according to a new CNN poll.
The War on Free Speech
Free speech, guaranteed by the United States Constitution, is under attack all around the globe, including our nation.
Given the epic struggles and enormous sacrifices that led to this happy outcome, there is indeed much to celebrate about the current condition of free expression. But despite the unprecedented ubiquity of speech and information today, the golden age is coming to an end. Today, we are witnessing the dawn of a free-speech recession.
Why Is Wokeism So Attractive to So Many?
Are you Woke? I pray not.
Wokeism offers pre-packaged, shrink-wrapped, off-the-shelf righteousness to anyone who bends the knee. It requires little effort, sacrifice, or intelligence. Simply believe, complain, criticize, and accuse—it’s that easy. In exchange, you’re rewarded with a flattering identity: you’re now a crusader/warrior/hero who vanquishes villains (imaginary villains, but villains nonetheless)—all at seemingly no cost. It’s free handouts of meaning in life. It can seem quite attractive.
But there’s a catch: it drains away your humanity.
There’s also a hidden cost: it requires a significant lack of self-awareness.
This lack of self-awareness creates a crucial vulnerability.
Wokeism is ultimately a religion for the faithless. They think they’re morally superior to everyone who isn’t in their cult, based on their newly invented, highly imaginative, man-made system of ethics. Lurking beneath every one of their policies is the implicit message: “I’m a good person, but you’re not.”
Conservative Media Isn’t ‘Stoking’ the Culture War, It’s the Left

The “culture-war stoking conservative media” is a liberal trope because it neatly comports to basic elite stereotypes about conservatism as a misguided ideology of blind rage and ignorance. The culture war itself is seen as a lowbrow battleground for reactionaries and the Brooks-Brothers elites who mine their concerns for clicks.
The New York Times Is Unfit to Be ‘The Newspaper of Record’
When I was in graduate school at Penn State in the early 70s, I eagerly read the New York Times almost every morning, sipping a large cup of coffee while waiting for my first class to start. Today, my only use for the NYT is when the supply chain stops bringing toilet paper to the store shelves.
It’s not just Trump and COVID. The NY Times has long ignored stories that would cut against its cultural prejudices. This is important because much of the mainstream media follow the paper’s lead. In practice, that often means that if a story isn’t in the NY Times, it barely exists.
Why Wokeism?
This article gives us some interesting information about Wokeism. It may surprise you at the similarity of Woke rhetoric and Hitler’s thinking. Take a few minutes to read it.
There are many similarities between what Germans believed in the years before Hitler and what “woke” culture is teaching black Americans today. Black Americans today are systematically taught that: Every problem and failure in their communities is caused by somebody else, namely past or present “racist” whites. Skin color makes every black American a special person who cannot be understood or represented by anyone with a different skin color. Only black Americans suffered from slavery years ago and only whites were slaveowners. Only black Americans suffer from rude or unfair treatment and insults. Therefore, black Americans can never be guilty of racism or bigotry.
Political power, not education, training, planning, or discipline is the only way black Americans can succeed. Since elections have replaced wars, the Democratic Party is today’s black army. “Ballot harvesters” are today’s soldiers.
Black Americans are entitled to use political power, violence, or “any means necessary” to take what they “need” from those with a different skin color who have more. That can be through looting, higher minimum wages, “redistribution” or “reparations.” This thinking caused millions of Germans to embrace National Socialism in the 1920s and 1930s. Once National Socialists had absolute political power in Germany, there was no peaceful way to stop them. While this was happening in Germany, very similar events were happening in Italy and Japan. This thinking caused 14 years of world war and the deaths of some 85 million people — roughly 3% of the world’s population. Sadly, this will happen again unless most Americans quickly understand and reject the lies and evil of this “woke” culture.
