Good News from God’s Word:

This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Ps. 118:24)

This blog addresses difficult and threatening topics as they attack Christianity. But, take heart! Not all is dark. God reigns! These posts will share links to positive and helpful articles designed to encourage God’s people.

God’s Word for Today

I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I still have my being. – Psalm 146:2

Inviting God into the Hard Places

We all encounter bad times, times when we hurt, when we grieve. And, while it is normal to cry out to God for relief in our pain, this article suggests there may be a better way to seek God in adversity.

But what if God wants something different? What if—rather than deliverance from the hard—he wants you to invite him into it? What if he wants you to seek his presence in the hard, more than his protection from the hard? His provision in the midst of life’s hardships, rather than relief from them? Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

A Simple Method to Encourage Scripture Engagement

Do you take time to engage regularly with God’s Word? In this article, find encouragement and a simple way to make Scripture a part of your daily life.

Why Do New Believers Read Their Bible More and How, We May Do the Same?

Being raised in the Roman Catholic Church in the 1950’s – 1960’s I never read the Bible. Even though I was required to buy paperback Old and New Testaments for my first freshman theology class at Villanova University in 1967 (a Catholic University) we never opened them.

It wasn’t until hearing the gospel for the first time at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, and a later experience at a charismatic prayer meeting, that I first opened God’s Word.

In the next year, I read the entire Bible 4 times, in 4 translations, and didn’t even skip Leviticus! It seems like I was reading the Scriptures at every opportunity. I even took a Bible with me to read while waiting for a doctor’s appointment.

This article tells us that my experience is common for new believers. But, as time passes, zeal for the Word of God wanes. How can we recapture that zeal?

How Do We Worship Jesus with Our Whole Lives?

This is a question all Christians need to ask? I know I do. This article provides insight into how we can give our entire lives to God.
