Pray for Those in Authority

Pray for Those in Authority

A recommended post by David Qaoud

On this blog, I often criticize our government leaders for their positions on life issues and hostility to religious freedom. Today I am linking to a post that reminds us that God places people in those positions as part of his plan for the world.

Paul writes, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

My Personal Thoughts About Our Government Leaders

To be clear, I stand against…

  • Every politician that is for abortion-on-demand.
  • Those who cater to the demands of the LBGTQ crowd.
  • Any who want to replace “freedom of religion,” with “freedom of worship.”
  • Those who advocate teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT).
  • And more…

Many of our elected officials proudly adhere to the things I find deplorable.

But…

What I think does not allow me to ignore God’s explicit command to pray for them!

Therefore, I pray for our President, Vice-President, Governor, Senators, Congresspeople, Mayor, and other officials.

And I encourage you to do the same.

What to pray?

Qaoud suggests:

  • Health
  • Wisdom & Discernment.
  • Success in things that honor God, failure in things that don’t.

I add:

  • They would come to an accurate knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • That God would change their hearts and minds on moral and ethical issues.

Click on the link to the article and take a few minutes to read it. It will show you why it is important to pray for our leaders, even when we disagree with them.

Please comment on my posts. I want to know what others are thinking about what I am saying.

Your turn, please let me know your thoughts on this post. Thanks!
